Widor Toccata from Organ Symphony No.5

YoPo Music is proud to present a brand new recording of Charles Widor’s stunning Toccata from his Organ Symphony No.5.

The toccata is undoubtedly one of the most recognisable pieces of recessional church organ music, as performed at royal weddings and celebrations around the world. This modern style fast tempo recording was made using samples from a modern (1958) Rieger-Kloss organ in Montreal, Canada.

Widor himself preferred to play the toccata at quite a slow and deliberate tempo, whereas the many modern interpretations, including this new release, perform the piece at a much faster pace. There is a recording of Widor playing the Toccata when he was 89! Available on YouTube.

Allegri Miserere Mei Deus

I’m in the process of recording some choral works for YoPo Music. Just finished is a new royalty free recording of Gregorio Allegri’s Miserere Mei Deus. Take a listen to the extract below.
[wp_eStore_fancy1_no_thumbnail id=444]

To make this recording I have been using the incredible sampled choirs produced by Spectrasonics in their award winning “Symphony of Voices”. If you have any suggestions for additions to the buyout production music choral collection please let me know.

I bought Symphony of Voices back in 1999, and it’s still one of those outstanding sample instruments that is a pleasure to work with and oozes quality.

Symphony of Voices is a four disc CD-Rom collection of some of the finest vocalists in the world.

Disc 1 features the incredible 80 strong London Choir
Disc 2 features the beauty and power of solo classical voices

Disc 3 is the world of English boy choristers and a Gregorian mens choir

Disc 4 features lush multi-layered pop stacks.

This is only a brief description, SOV is packed full of incredible samples and performances.

Entrance of the Gladiators

Julius Fucik
Julius Fucik 1872-1916

Entrance of the Gladiators (or Entry of the Gladiators) was composed by the Czech composer Julius Fucik in 1897.

The title of the work stems from the composer’s own personal interest in the Roman Empire.

Party due to the popularity of arrangements of the piece made by Canadian composer Louis-philip Laurendeau, the piece has become firmly established as a well known march to stir up circus audiences, and for the introduction of clowns.

History of Yopo Music – back to 1993

The Yopo Music library was born in 1993. I had just set up a radio production company called Sounds Visual making commercials and jingles for local stations across the UK. Money was tight and to be competitive we had to find a way to avoid using the MCPS licensed music libraries when producing our ads. With MCPS licensing you paid a fee each time you used one of their tracks on a commercial. In other words each time you dubbed the music onto a new production, you had to pay another fee.

We could not afford to do that and at the same time be competitive. So not only did we write the ads, voice the ads and produce them, we had to write the backing tracks and jingles too! I wrote music beds for car ads, window ads, recruitment ads, holiday ads and lots more, and it wasn’t long before I had accumulated a neat little library of tracks to use on our commercials. It soon occurred to me that I had enough material to fill a CD…a CD that could be marketed to other producers wanting an alternative to MCPS licensed music.

Music to Voice Over Take 1

A little bit of market research on the phone confirmed my suspicion that there were many producers out there who would be interested in a library of quality production music without the expense and hassle of MCPS licensing.

Up to that point the reputation of buyout, royalty free or non-MCPS libraries was pretty poor. The music was often described as copyright free and often only available on cassette.
Yopo music would be different, and with a brand new CD packed with a variety of quality production music, not to mention a growing list of interested production companies, YoPo Music was born.

Not surprisingly there were those in the established music business who frowned on this break away from the MCPS way of doing things, and some were keen to tell me that it couldn’t work. Troubled by this scare mongering I sought legal advice. I had come across a book called ‘Music Business Agreements’, and sought out it’s author, Richard Bagehot. He immediately understood the concept of what I was trying to do, and was incredibly generous in offering to draft the original license agreement for me. True to his word, a few days later the fax machine whirred into action and started rolling out the first license agreement for YoPo Music. We were off.

Debussy’s Clair De Lune Royalty Free

The sumptuous solo piano work Clair De Lune by Claude Debussy (1862-1918) is out now as royalty free production music track.

Recorded and produced by Jonathan Slatter this new release was made using the stunning Alecia Keys sampled piano – a virtual piano created by Danish sample specialist Thomas Skarbye (better known as Scarbee). The piano is Alecia Key’s very own Yamaha C3 Neo grand built in 2002 and represents the very top of the Conservatory Collection line, and the samples perfectly capture the warm, soulful and inspiring sound of the C3 – perfect for Clair De Lune.

Take a listen to Clair De Lune.

Background
Clair de Lune (moonlight) is part of Debussy’s Bergamasque Suite written around 1890, but not published until 1905. Clair De Lune was originally titled “Promenade Sentimentale”.

Medecins Sans Frontieres Somalia Appeal

In September 2011 YoPo Music is supporting the Medecins Sans Frontieres Somalia Appeal.

We are donating 100% of the proceeds from the new sound effects album – 92 More Transport Sound Effects – to the appeal. If you would like to help the appeal, please consider purchasing the new album here. The album consists of 92 new sounds of planes, trains, bikes, motorbikes, automobiles, boats and more.

Extract from the MSF UK Website

As prolonged drought grips Somalia, people are losing their livestock, homes and lives. Poor harvests, rising food prices, continuing violence and chronic poverty have further contributed to a sudden rise in malnutrition rates.

Many children are suffering from severe malnutrition with extremely low weight, signs of wasting and nutritional oedema. The security situation in Somalia is complicated, but because we are an impartial medical organisation and rely on charitable donations instead of government funding, we continue to be the only medical charity working in many areas.

There are hundreds of children and adults arriving at our clinics every day. Many of them need expert medical care for malnutrition, often whilst battling other severe conditions such as malaria and pneumonia.

You can help us save lives.

Testimonials for YoPo Music

In a broadcast and corporate media career spanning 30 years I have had regular requirements for library and composed music. In my books, buyout music purchase is the uncomplicated and ideal solution for all my music requirements especially when that music is produced at the hands of a competent composer with a feel for the director’s needs. Yopo music provides just that service. Thank you Jono.

“The music lends itself very well to underscore our productions and client feedback has been very positive indeed. With so much music out there it is nice to find a site with great tracks that are very competitively priced, and dovetail so well with effects and voice-overs on top. I will continue to use Yopo music and look forward to many more future releases.”
